Why These Percentages Matter

These aren't arbitrary numbers — they're based on actual cost data from $1M-$2M custom homes in central Texas. Your numbers will vary by region, but the ratios stay surprisingly consistent. Framing is always the biggest single line item. Foundation is always 6-10%. Contingency should never be less than 5%.
